I probably won't have my house next year. About five years ago I bought a duplex with my sister and she will be buying my half out. I hope to move to Burlington to finish my schooling and then after that to some warmer state so my arthritis won't hurt as much. On that note I don’t think I will be having a Christmas tree next year either, because I might be transient.

You see Rallem,
I always felt that it is what is in our hearts and not what is in our homes that makes us.
I have been blessed, and feel that every day that I am able to wake, that I am on the right side of the ground...

I almost didn't have a tree this past Christmas either... I left the good huge seven foot tree (that I was trying, but could not find a picture of.).. the one I decorated just right.. Well, a couple of years ago, Chris bought this scrawney little one that litterally folded out like an umbrella.. HE bought it only because it was a good deal. I made sure, after that year, to push it aside and quickly grab for our huge one... before he remembered about the little one. Now because I do want for my kids to have the good tree to look at... I left it and took the umbrella one. Daughter came over and decorated most of it for me... well until I added the assorted ornaments she normally never added to the tree herself. So, I nearly did n't have a one this year... still I know this was only to make due. Next year is another year and by then there is no telling what I'll have up or where I'll be. I've been shoping the markdown lights.. Yep a couple of nights ago, I was set the task at work to clean up the clearance aisle as well as the left over Christmas.. Low and behold I found the last box of 300 icicle lights for only 1.75. I have absolutely no idea where I will put them, but I am laughing with that thought. ;D Christmas is what we make of it... and the friends new and old... and yes family everywhere... What would life be like without all of you here and the people at home? It makes a world of difference and I loved my christmas. The best I've had in years.

I am right there with you Miss Charlotte... I so remember the year that my Ex and I divorced and I gave her the house in the settlement and I moved on. My son was just a baby and it was a very scary time but still so much was learned from that time of my life.
Rallem, here is an open invitation and this goes out to each and every one of you, Share with me in my lifes gifts..
My tree, is your tree and there will be a special ornament next year placed on the tree for each and everyone of you.. I will get them at Thames Glass in Newport RI.. I get two hand made ornaments every year there and next year I am going to be a busy little tree decorating elf...
So, no matter if your tree is in your home or where ever you live at the moment, I will make sure that there is a picture taken of YOUR ornament on OUR Tree for us all to share in.
My son is in Vermont Skiing at the moment as he stays at my Grandfathers old place in Bellows Falls/Westminster that we inherited from him.

Wow... thanks. That is also a tradition I have started of my own... to buy at least ONE new ornament... well, back in the early years it was a small box each year.. of new ornaments each year... Now you see why I liked a big tree. ;D Thanks Duddah... I"ll have a tree... I just don't know what it will be like... maybe a real one... Yes... That sounds good. Rallem... Even if you get something so small that it sits upon your table... It's much better than nothing at all.

Bellows Falls? I assume then he must ski in the Rutland area. I have a friend who has a tradition of always getting a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. His family used to be embarrassed by it but as the children grew up they began to like it. Thank you Duddahs for the open invitation.

Duddahs, that is so very sweet! I cant' wait to see what you choose!
I buy a new ornament each year for each of the boys, and mark it with their name and the year. When they are ready to have a Christmas of their own in their own place, I will pass them on to them. I am also in the process of making photo ornaments of the boys each year for US to keep. That way when I give them their ornaments, our tree won't look so empty.

*POP*
Suddenly appears this old little wrinkled house elf... wringing his hands while standing there all hunkered over.
He looks to the left...... nothing.
He looks to the right.... nothing again.
He snickers obnoxiously, then suddenly stops. He thought he heard something. All is quiet so he tip toes toward the warm fire. He looks around once again, then with a sly smile he pulls out of his apron pocket something long and striped with Gryffindor colors. Holding it up with two knarled fingers he suddenly tosses it into the fire then dissapperates with another loud *POP*
Oh what it is to hear the wool sizzle as it burns. Dumbledore's used socks cause strange colors to issue into the room.

Oh thank you so much for that gift.
Duddahs absolutely loves Maya Angelou and has gone to Lincoln Center to hear her read...
What a special joy she is.

Fangsfan tiptoes in and leaves a big bouquet of multicolored pansies for the Gryffindors to enjouy. Wonder if the Fat Lady will tell it was me who left them?

Duddahs the Great Barn Owl fly's into the Gryffindor Common Room.
He waives his mighty wings and Gold and Silver Dust fall from the ceiling and disapeers before it touches anything.
The Massive Stone Hearth is suddenly filled with brilliant blue flames as cool dry air wafts out of the fireplace and creates a cozy and comfortable place for Duddahs to sit and relax as he ready s himself for tonight's dinner of Stir Fry Terriaki and a Blu Ray of the Deathly Hallows 1! Oh, and a nice glass of Pino Grigio to wash it all down. And home made, well not really home made, these Chocolate Chip Gorilla Cookies from Costco that you put in the Convection Microwave and they are done in less than 5 minutes!
Who ever thought up the name Gorilla Cookies?
