Ahh... just imagine everything.. The candles all afloating to light the way of the students as they come in to take a seat. There are the long house tables all made of wood. Up ahead is the teachers table. Smells of the house elves cooking drift up through the floor below where the next meal is being prepaired. Overhead an enchanted ceiling that mirrors the skies outside.

Michael Tisdale was mesmerized by the sites and smells that surrounded him.
With his mouth wide agape, he stared at the ceiling high above the Ravenclaw table at which he sat.
Michael was the first student to have entered the Great Hall so early this morning. The tables were set with placings of shiny gold and goblets of crystal and pewter. The odd looking forks and knives with their hammered handles were all neatly placed along side the golden under-plates.
The huge doors of the Great Hall burst open, and Michael finally turned his gaze downward from the wonderment above his head.
There at the entrance way was a pack of Slytherin students of all sizes and shapes. They advanced upon their long table, chattering and laughing amongst themselves. The noise that came from this group of students was intermingled with a few cat calls and whistles.
Michael could not for the life of him understand why at such an early hour of the day that this group might be so loud and boisterous.
What had he missed by getting up so early in the morning just so he could marvel at the Great Hall that he had seen for the very first time just the evening before.
A large hand was now placed upon young Michael's shoulder. A small squeezing feeling as he turned his head to find a tall strapping blond Ravenclaw who had been introduced to the first years just hours earlier.
"Michael, right?" "Well, you are here bright and early this morning. And here I thought I would be the first Ravenclaw down from our tower to get a jump on the festivities of our first breakfast together."
Michael smiled a broad grin as he felt the comfort of the older Ravenclaw and the assurance that he was no longer alone.
In but a few moments other students from the House of Ravenclaw were entering the Great Hall and seating themselves along side and across from Michael.
The feeling of security that engulfed young Michael Tidsale was so palpable that he thought to himself that the others could surely feel the quickened beating of his own heart.

Florence Finley is barely awake. It is not that she is a late riser normally but since having just arrived at Hogwarts as a first year, she is simply so excited and wishes to see and learn everything about her new family and the history of Hufflepuff house that she stays up all night reading by candle light in a dark corner of the common room.
