Yeah, I think it was Fangsfan who really got me to thinking about things sort of along those lines. I normally am such a stickler about keeping in tune with JKR's original storyline, I just see this as an alternate universe.... sort of like a dream state where nothing will fit right and love the story all by it's self.
You guys both might like it better IF the stage performace of The Cursed Child does it's OWN version from that book? I find seeing things live always more exciting. I get more easily caught up in the excitement. Hopefully, you guys will too. Go have fun.

We have Friday evening tickets for show 1 and Saturday night for show 2.
Dinner on Friday night will be an after show at Sardie’s and Saturday will be pre show dinner at my friend Christians restaurant Pergola deArtiste on Restaurant Row. No matter what, it will be an enjoyable weekend. We are staying at the Marriot Marquis located at 7th. and 46th Street with a high floor Broadway view room reserved for 3 nights. A great hotel experience but you need to get into the elevators an hour before your dinner reservations in order to get out in time.
This ole bird is going to be tuckered out for sure and will most likely require a week itucked in at his nest to recover.

I liked a lot of it, the thing that was hardest for me was the idea of Cedric being a deatheater, don't think that would ever happen. Have a wonderful time guys, can't wait to hear what you think.

Congratulations to Cursed Child on their winning 6 Tony Awards this past Sunday.
The show is a force of its own, aside from the JKR Harry Potter series. As a book, Duddahs was very disappointed, yet as a stand alone pair of stage performances, it exceeded his expectations.
The visuals of the live performance will transport the audience member to a place between the muggle world and the world of Harry Potter. The performances were exceptional, the costumes brilliant, the storyline was still a bit of an issue for this ole bird but to suspend ones beliefs is to explore the unknown and exciting.
Duddahs was very happy with the decision to experience Cursed Child and went to the two performances with as open a mind as an grumpy ole Owl could be expected too..
3 hoots for the Cursed Child’s recognition at the Tony Awards! PS, the ole bird was seated third row, first balcony at the awards show, thanks to his past skating student who is presently the director of one of the B’way Theatres. Thank you Larry and Chris for the excellent seats and opportunity to attend the show, hope you both enjoyed our thank you post show dinner at Pergola d’Artiste, Christian and his staff pulled out all the stops for our parties seven course dinner which lasted until 3:30 am. Thankfully the hotel was on the same block too!

So I saw the show this weekend... It was AMAZING!!! I still can't reconcile it as canon, BUT the show did redeem itself from the screenplay. First of all, the actors who portrayed the characters made them seem more like the characters from the series than they came across in the screenplay. They seemed like shallow versions of themselves when I read it, but on stage, they really did bring out the characters we all knew...even with those lines. Second, the special effects are absolutely incredible!!! Some of it, you knew, logically, how they must have made it happen, but you still weren't sure...and the time turner sequences literally blew my mind...I don't want to spoil it, but I highly recommend that if you ever get the chance to see it, DO!!!! We were allowed to take pictures before each part started, so here are pictures from then: Part 1: i66.TP .com/9iwmms.jpg[/IMG] Part 2: i65.TP .com/2ccqwqq.jpg[/IMG] Now...I need to go re-read with a different mind-set... You guys talk about the Cursed Child. I think I"m going to have to reread it again. I know I was not too impressed with the book, however, I did see it as a possible alternate timeline, sort of like Star Trek is doing. Original Series Star Trek everyone knows that certain events happened a certain way to certain people... for instance, Spock died in the chamber and Kirk screamed Kahn! where in this NEW remade version they had these two characters switched within these two events.... Spock screams Kahn! when Kirk dies. I love both versions of these Star Treks as they are.
So, I got to thinking that Cursed Child the only way I can't be upset at the events were to see them like the above. I didn't see the second as canon, but a fun way to see things from a new way. However, I'm on Twitter even if I'm hardly reading it. I did noticed ages ago, where JKR confirmed the Cursed Child definitely IS CANON. I didn't like that. However, knowing this, it puts a whole new twist on the potterverse. I need to reread the book. It's been ages and I read it only once. Does the play go by the book on stage or does it go on it's own?
(ps I definitely need to backread this thread.)

Duddahs did indeed find the actual two part Cursed Child play to be far more interesting and compelling a story than the publication of Cursed Child. Much of the difference turned out to be context and inflection of tone. None of these came across to the ole bird in print form while the actual full experience combined with magnificent lighting, visual and sound effects transport the audience to a world unlike any other, including that we all know and love from the WB Harry Potter movie franchise series.
